well, at long last, i am here. and let me tell you, it is not what i expected and it is what i expected all at once. i could probably write a novel right now based on all the information i have gathered over the past four days, but i will spare you the time and slowly tell it all while i am here.

so this will be short and sweet (mostly because my computer battery is dying and i won’t have power until 6pm).

the word i will use to describe my thoughts right now is “whoa”. it is just craaaazy here in every way. the amount of people, the atmosphere (literally, the pollution/dust in the air is unbelievable but apparently Jos is one of the cleaner cities in Nigeria), the new things i have encountered, the language, the traditions. oy! but i can definitely see myself loving it here and the time going really really really quickly!

so quick story: today i was travelled to the other CRC compound (there are two) and had a little “health training session”. on the way back, my supervisor (Talitha) had just gotten her baby to sleep and didn’t want to wake him up (she was holding him…a 3 month old - and he is just the cutest thing i have ever seen. i want a black baby!) so she asked me to drive back to the other compound. and let me tell you - the driving here is absolutely nuts. i have never seen anything like it. to give you an idea of how bad it was, when she asked me to drive, and i almost turned her down. and if you know me, you know that i loooove to drive so me turning down the chance to drive is a very good indication of how crazy it is here. but i did it (because she called me chicken) and it was actually pretty easy…but i think i got lucky as there were not too many cars on the road. anyways, so i’ve been here for four days and i’ve already driven. pretty awesome.

so for my mom’s sake, wiebe and jackie brinkman (a couple from our church back home) arrived safely yesterday. so don’t worry mom, they are here to take care of me. and even if they weren’t here, the community of missionaries here is awesome. so i am well looked after!

i miss you all but i am glad to be here.

enjoy the snow, suckers.
