i heard an interesting and incredibly true perspective on the “crisis in Jos” today. many people think of this battle as a fight between christians and muslims, and see it as an “us versus them” scenario. in many ways, they are right to do so. there are clear lines between these groups but the thing is, both sides are in the wrong. both sides are killing and hurting others in the name of their God. is it possible to say one side is justified in their actions? i don’t think you can, plain and simple. however, with confidence, it is safe to say that the battle lines between good and evil have been drawn. there is a war between the armies of light and darkness. membership to the army of darkness extends across religions when anyone sins. the army of darkness is led by a liar who wants to fill the world full of hate. we see this in the way people selfishly interact with each other across the world. but thankfully, the war has already been won. and whether people accept this and join the army of light, or not, Jesus has overcome. He is the light of the world, the one who can save us from ourselves. i hope and pray we are humble enough to accept His grace, as He gives it so freely. amen.
(ps - if you don’t know what crisis i am talking about, look up “crisis in Jos, Nigeria 2010”)
